Updates on the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
What an unusual few weeks we’ve had in Kosciusko County, and around the world! I’ve been watching the national response to the COVID-19 situation, but I’ve also been listening into individual’s response to the unknown.
First, let me speak to our hearts and our fears:
Even though many things are uncertain, there are some things that are very secure: God is still in charge, he loves us, and he’s going to shine in this crisis!
As we approach Easter, we can remember that Jesus himself suffered on a cross, and gave us an example to follow. We can go through hard times with faith that God’s love will carry us through, and his plan will not be ruined. We can trust in him, no matter the circumstance.
The building is not the church, we are the church! We can gather in homes, and God is there with us. We can help each other, pray with one another, reach out to our neighbors, share a roll of toilet paper… without having a formal program or pastor leading it. So be the church where you are.
In the darkest times, God’s light and love shine the brightest. I’m already looking for how God is at work in people’s hearts and lives in this pandemic. Pray with me that many in our world will turn to God in faith instead of being consumed by fear.
Now, for some of the practical details. I am striving, along with the leaders at Pathway, to be proactive and make wise decisions. We want to follow the guidance of our national leaders, in the best interest of our the people in our church and community. Here are the current steps we are taking:
We will not gather on Pathway’s campus for any services, groups, activities, etc. from now through April 11, 2020.
Sunday mornings we will worship in your own homes. A video including worship and a new sermon will be available on the website every Sunday morning by 9:00 AM.
Pathway Kids (birth – elementary) will not meet from now through April 11. Pathway Adventures will not meet again for the rest of the school year. A Kid’s Teaching Video will be available on the website every Sunday morning by 9:00 AM. Josh will also be communicating about other opportunities as they are available.
Pathway Students (7 – 12 grade) will not meet from now through April 11. A new student ministry video teaching will be available on the website every Wednesday by 6:00 PM.
Life Groups will not meet on Pathway campus through April 11. We strongly encourage groups to postpone their meetings during this time and connect on the phone and online.
Pastoral care will be provided by phone calls instead of in-person visits during this time. Most hospitals and care facilities do not allow visitors. If you have funeral or care needs, please contact the church by phone or email. Pathway pastors will not be officiating weddings or funerals during this time. You are encouraged to postpone any such gatherings in compliance with the CDC guidelines.
If you or someone you know at Pathway is struggling with basic needs, please contact the church office. We want to do all we can to help.
Even though we are not gathering on campus, we encourage everyone to continue to give financially online or by mail. The staff at Pathway will continue to work from the office or from home as needed, and will prioritize their work based on the needs of the church and community.
Pathway will communicate any further updates through the website, Face Book, and email. You can also call the church office and listen to the voicemail recording for updated information.
COVID-19 Update. No Sunday Activities on campus.
In response to Gov. Holcomb’s recommendations, Pathway will not host any activities, services, classes, or trainings on campus this Sunday, March 15th.
I encourage everyone to set aside an hour to worship in their own homes this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30 AM. We will post a new video teaching by 9:00 AM Sunday at www.pathway.community and on Pathway’s Facebook page.
You (and your family) can watch this video, which will serve as a worship guide in your homes. I also want to encourage you to give online at www.pathway.community this weekend, or by mail to Pathway Church. 2402 W Old Rd. 30. Warsaw, IN 46580.
Any future schedule adjustments will be shared via the website, social media platforms, and emails. However, I want to encourage you to spread the word to others in our church who may not have seen this update.
